곡운구곡의 절경
국립춘천박물관 본관 중앙 홀의 계단과 벽면 LED 스크린에 '곡운구곡 (谷雲九曲)'을 주제로 제작한 영상을 맵핑하는
프로젝트를 진행했습니다. 국내 최초 16K, 28M*3.6M에 이르는 초대형 디스플레이에 걸맞는 Full CGI 영상 연출로
관객에게 현실 그 이상의 몰입도를 선사합니다.
곡운구곡은 강원도 화천군 사내면에 위치한 계곡으로, 조선시대 실경산수화인 곡운구곡도와 실제 지형을 반영하여
아름다운 자연경관으로 재현했습니다. 각 곡들마다 계절의 변화를 느끼며 감상하실 수 있습니다.
The Sights of Gogungugok
We are happy to present our full height projection and LED screen display for the National Chuncheon Museum’s main hall central exhibit on the sights and sounds of Gogungugok (谷雲九曲). The display uses Korea’s largest display at 28m*3.6m, producing a massive 16k resolution. Our full CGI video and projections invite guests to immerse themselves fully in the beauty of Gogungugok.
We have re-created the picturesque scenery of Gogungugok, a sequence of ravines and rivers situated in the Sanae District of Hwacheon Town in Gangwon Province, that has captivated people since its natural beauty was recorded
in realistic paintings dating back to the Joseon Dynasty era. Guests are invited to ‘get their toes wet’ while they enjoy
the vibrant scenery as they experience Gogungugok through all four seasons!

Guests are able to view nine scenes of ravines and rivers we painstakingly recreated.
01
방화계
제 1곡은 봄에 강가에 피는 철쭉이 아름다운 곳인 방화계(傍花溪)입니다.
둥근산을 배경으로 소나무와 활엽수가 들어찬 계변에는 물이 흐르고, 물 가운데와 가장자리에는
너러바위가 깔려 있으며, 오른쪽 계변의 기암과 소나무들이 운치를 자아내고 있습니다.
Banghwagye
The first ravine guests will see is called Banghwagye(傍花溪), and we get to visit it
in Spring just as the azaleas are blooming along the river banks.
Pine and broad-leaved trees dot the riverside against a backstop of a large, round mountain.
The famous Neoreobawi Rock can be seen right in the middle of the river, and more rocks
and pine trees stand on the right riverside to complete the visual.
一曲難容入洞船 挑花開落隔雲川
林深路絶來人少 何處山家有吠煙
방화계는 구곡의 시작점으로, 수량이 많고 유속이 빠릅니다.
세차게 흐르는 계곡과 철쭉의 조화로운 모습을 감상하실 수 있습니다.
Since Banghwagye is near the source of the ravine, the flow rate is high and the speed is fast.
Guests can feel a sense of serenity viewing the steady flow of the water and the blooming azaleas.

청옥협
제 2곡은 맑은 물빛이 옥색과 같다는 청옥협(靑玉峽)으로 그 길이가 3km에 이릅니다.
계변과 물 가운데에 기암괴석과 반석들이 자연 그대로 여기저기 널려있는 모습이 멋스러운 분위기를 연출합니다.
Cheongokhyeop
The second scene features the jade-colored clear waters of Cheongokhyeop, a three kilometer stretch of river.
The irregular rock formations and boulders placed amongst the waters create a rugged yet natural and
harmonious atmosphere that is true to life.

行行石棧仙居近 己覺塵喧隔萬重
옅은 안개가 깔려있는 청옥협 주변으로 한 노인이 반석에 앉아 시동에게 이야기를 하며
정중동을 함께 맛보게 해 주는 모습을 찾아보실 수 있습니다.
Legends say that when mist descends upon the ravine at Cheongokhyeop, an old man appears
sitting on one of the rocks, who shares his wisdom with a child as they share a drink.

신녀협
제 3곡은 신녀협(神女峽)으로, 산새에 있는 정자는 근래에 지어진 것으로 계곡을 전망하기 좋습니다.
바위와 계변의 기암괴석들, 그리고 그 위에 뿌리내린 소나무와 고사목이 자연의 흥취를 더해주며,
원산봉에 서 있는 한 그루의 소나무가 무척 인상적입니다.
Shinnyeohyeop
The third area is called Shinnyeohyeop, and in recent years a pavilion has been built amongst the section of cliffs the mountain birds call home, and it provides excellent views. Rocks of all shapes and sizes as well as pine trees, among other trees, add to the deep sense of nature, with one pine tree in particular standing proudly at Wonsanbong peak.

신녀협 옆의 벼랑은 계곡을 전망하기 좋은 곳으로 「금오신화(金鰲新話)」의 저자로 알려진 조선 전기의 문인 김시습(金時習, 1435 ~ 1493)이 신녀협의 풍치를 굽어보고 삼미(三味)에 빠진 곳이라 하여 그의 법호를 따서 청은대(淸隱臺)라고 불렸습니다. 지금 이곳에 있는 정자는 근래에 지어진 것 입니다.
The cliffs at Shinnyeohyeop are an excellent place to catch a glimpse of the whole valley. The cliffs gained their name, Cheongeundae, after the Buddhist name given to a Joseon Dynasty writer by the name of Kim Si-seup (1435 ~ 1493), famous for his works titled Geumo Sinhwa, a record of mythical tales. He fell in love with the area upon looking over the cliffs and taking in the grand views.

백운담
제 4곡은 안개와 구름이 머무는 백운담(白雲潭)입니다. 여름철 백운담 수면 위에 얕게 드리운 구름같은 안개와
계류에 잠겨있는 층석 너러바위들이 신비스러운 분위기를 만들고, 자연스럽게 이루어진 담이 멋스럽습니다.
Baekundam
The fourth location is called Baekundam, where fog and clouds commonly form and linger. In summer the shallow, cloudy fog converges on Neoreobawi Rock and the water's surface to create a mystical atmosphere.
The rocks form a pleasant barrier to the outside world.
四曲川觀倚翠巖 近人松影落毿毿
奔潨濺沫無時歇 雲氣尋常漲一潭
못 위엔 안개가 가득 끼어있고, 수면에는 소나무 그림자들이 비치고 있습니다.
삼단으로 떨어지는 물줄기와 물방울이 생동감을 줍니다.
We filled the small pond with fog as well and allowed the shadows from the pine trees to reflect across the surface.
The ravine along with the falling drops of water bring the entire scene to life.

명옥뢰
제 5곡은 옥이 부서지는 듯한 소리를 내는 여울인 명옥뢰(鳴玉瀨)입니다.
명옥뢰의 기암괴석과 맑은 물 위에 떨어지는 단풍의 조화를 보여주고 있습니다.
Myeongokroi
The fifth location is called Myeongokroi(鳴玉瀨). We created a set of rapids that bring to mind images and sounds
of jade smashing together. The scene of Myeongokroi is one of irregular rock formations and the gentle swaying
of autumn leaves falling towards the clear water.

계류와 기암괴석들의 조화는 자연미를 한껏 뽐내고 있고,
맑게 흐르는 냇물 소리가 들리는 듯 합니다.
The harmony between the creek and the rock formations shows off the beauty of the area to the absolute fullest,
and one might be able to imagine the gentle trickle of a stream as they look at it.

와룡담
제 6곡은 와룡이 숨었다는 깊은 못인 와룡담(臥龍潭)입니다. 가을철 푸른 하늘이 비춰진 와룡담의 맑은
계변수를 클로즈업해서 보여주고 있고, 오른쪽에 작은 초막(草幕)인 농수정(籠水亭)도 찾아 볼 수 있습니다.
Waryongdam
The sixth ravine is named Waryongdam, named after the sleeping dragon that hides deep in the pond that can be found here. We created a close up of the sleeping dragon in the clear water, caught in the speckled Autumn light,
with a thatched traditional cottage on the right to add to the atmosphere.
六曲幽居枕綠灣 深潭千尺暎松關
潛龍不管風雲事 長臥波心自在閑
나무와 바위로 둘러 쌓인 가운데로 맑은 벽계수가 잔잔하게 흐르며,
그 아래로는 용이 여유롭게 지나가는 모습을 찾아 보실 수 있습니다.
We created another clear, blue stream that flows between picturesque trees and rocks
where we can once more see a dragon taking a rest.

명월계
제 7곡은 밝은 달이 비치는 계곡물이라는 명월계(明月溪)입니다.
밝은 달이 뜬 밤 소나무가 드리운 명월계의 전경을 보여주고 있습니다.
Myeongwolgye
The seventh ravine is called Myeongwolgye(明月溪), a ravine that shines with the light from the moon.
Our vision shows the spectacular site of a full moon casting shadows across the valley and river.
七曲平潭連淺灘 淸漣漣向月中看
山空夜靜無人度 唯有長松倒影寒
명월계는 평평한 못과 얕은 여울이 특징입니다.
고요한 밤, 잔물결에 비친 달과 소나무 그림자가 조화롭게 어우러집니다.
We created our vision of Myeongwolgye based on the characteristic flatland ponds and shallow rapids of the area.
On a quiet night, a subtle harmony can be felt when viewing the gentle reflections of the moon
and the pine trees upon the waters.

융의연
제8곡은 의(義)를 높인다는 융의연(隆義淵)입니다.
펑펑 쏟아지는 눈과 여기저기 우뚝 서 있는 소나무들이 조화를 이루고 있습니다.
Yoonguiyeon
The eighth valley setting is taken from Yoonguihyeon(隆義淵), a place said to rouse a sense of justice
and righteousness in anybody who views the area. We opted for a Winter setting in this scene,
where heavy snow coats the pines and brings a feeling of ease to the viewer.
八谷淸淵漠漠開 時將雲影獨沿洄
眞源咫尺澄明別 座見儵魚自往來
맑은 못이 넓게 펼쳐져 있고, 물 속에 노니는 물고기도 보입니다.
Ponds rippling with clear water are spread out here and there,
and within the ponds one can see the small fish playing together.

첩석대
제 9곡은 층층이 쌓인 바위인 첩석대(疊石臺)입니다.
계변의 층석들이 대를 이루고 여기저기에 소나무들이 골기 있게 서 있습니다.
겨울철 첩석대의 층층바위 위에 눈이 쌓이는 장면을 풀샷으로 보여주고 있습니다.
Cheopseokdae
The ninth and final ravine featured in our series is taken from the sights of the mounds and slabs of rocks at Cheopseokdae (疊石臺). In many places the stones form steps of sorts, and here and there pine trees grow
where they can. We created a full shot of the scene that shows mountains of snow layered upon the rocks and
stones in a harmonious Winter scene.
九曲層巖更嶄然 臺成重壁映淸川
飛湍暮與松風急 靈籟嘈嘈滿洞天
암벽이 층층 쌓인 모습이 독특하고, 흐르는 여울물과 솔바람이 조화를 이룹니다.
첩석대 위에 올라 관수청음하는 신선과 같은 노인의 모습도 찾아보실 수 있습니다.
The appearance of the rock and stone growing in layered formations is unique to the area which creates
a picturesque scene when viewed with the gushing rapids and breeze passing through the pine trees.
You can also see an old mystic man perched among the rocks.
곡운구곡도첩
곡운구곡도(谷雲九曲圖)는 조선시대의 화가 조세걸(曺世傑)이 화천군 사내면 용담천 하류를 이루는 약 8㎞의
구불구불한 계곡을 그린 실경산수화로, 조선시대의 실경산수화가 실제 경치와 유일하게 일치하는 작품입니다.
곡운구곡의 현재 모습이 곡운구곡도첩으로 서서히 바뀌어 가며 한 폭의 그림이 펼쳐지도록 연출했습니다.
Gogungugokdo
The artwork titled Gogungugokdo is a piece based on the 8km stretch of valley by the Joseon era painter Jo Se-geol,
a painter from the same region in Sanae district of Hwacheon Town in Gangwon Province. The piece depicts the
entire scene of winding, tumbling valleys and large, round mountains that are characteristic and true to the area.
The realistic landscape painting Gogungugokdo is the only piece of art that matches the actual scenery of the valley.
In the transition from the original artwork to our CGI pieces, we strived to maintain as much of the essence of
the original art and its features and nuances as possible.
곡운구곡도는 조세걸이 구곡을 일일이 찾아다니며 그렸기 때문에 종래의 관념적인 산수화와는
달리 실제 경치를 관찰하고 그려서 산·바위·나무·집 등이 비교적 정확하게 묘사되었습니다.
김수증은 자신의 아들, 조카에게 각 굽이마다 한 수씩 시를 짓게 해 화첩을 만들기도 했습니다.
Jo Se-geol’s landscape art is so captivating because he chose to paint what he observed himself at Gogungugok,
rather than painting what he thought would match the imagery. The mountains, rocks, trees and hous.es are depicted with a high level of accuracy to the actual scenery he found there in the Joseon era.
Kim Soo-jeung, who commissioned the artwork from Jo Se-geol, was so taken aback with the natural beauty of
the area that he even tasked his son and his nephew with writing a poem for every twist and turn in the valley,
which he would later compile.
